Tradition Innovation -Jewish Prayer and Worship – Explorations

Some Definitions:

Prayer – “Yichud with the Ehad” – Encounter with the Unity of the universe to achieve a personal stability zone in which to process the changes we are experiencing.

Worship – That community we establish around us as a trustworthy sanctuary in which engage in prayer.

Environment – is both the world from which we enter worship, and the sensory experience into which we enter for prayerful worship.

Jewish – The stories of a problem solving and story tellings people

Rabbi Eugene Borowitz paints the picture of a computerized synagogue in which the Sabbath services are established by the computer fed with the data of tradition and data about those who indicated they will be attending. Borowitz sums up this view of technology and the synagogue when he writes: “What is satire here will one day be attempted in all seriousness.’
